If you're a busy Marketing Manager looking for some quick wins and actionable tips to make your social media more efficient and effective, then today is your lucky day!

Whether you're planning the social media publishing schedule for the week or need to create a quick-fire post in response to something newsworthy or timely, it can sometimes seem like it takes a long time to get social media right, right?!

Does any of the following sound familiar?

"What size image do I need?"

"What size should I make my Facebook ads image again? 1200 x 627? But wasn't that LinkedIn?" We've all been there...in fact, the answer is 1200 x 627, for both.

"I never know when to post."

While you should measure engagement from your social following to determine which days and times are best to post, it's always handy to have a quick reference guide.

"Which tools will help me manage my social media better?"

"Adspresso? Bitly? Buffer? Crowdfire? Tubechop? What are all these things?! Which ones are relevant to each social channel, and how will they help me?" - How can you avoid tool overload?

"My headlines suck!"

Or equally as common... "my posts aren't getting enough shares and engagement as I hoped".

Time to become a social media rockstar

Fear not! Thanks to On Blast Blog, there's a handy social media cheat sheet you can quickly reference to solve all your social media woes! The best part is, it's presented in a digestible infographic format:

What about LinkedIn?

Although it's not included on the above cheat sheet, we shouldn't exclude arguably the most powerful social media channel for B2B companies, LinkedIn.

We're producing a more comprehensive guide to LinkedIn soon, so subscribe to the Katapult blog to make sure you don't miss it.

In the meantime, here are a few quick tips I've compiled to help you out:

Image sizes:

  • Background image: 1500 px wide by 425 px tall
  • Profile image: 400 px wide by 400 px tall
  • Career cover photo: 974 px wide by 330 px tall
  • Banner image: 646 px wide by 220 px tall (minimum)
  • Standard logo: 400 px wide by 400 pixels tall (maximum)

Sponsored content sizes:

  • Keep images to 1200 x 628 px, so you can repurpose Facebook ad images if it's relevant. Avoid using too much text on your advert images...on mobile view or the LinkedIn content network, your heading may be overlaid onto the image.
  • While character count is relatively flexible with LinkedIn sponsored updates, to be on the safe side, stick to 35 characters for your headline, 70 characters for your statement. Your description should pull through from the meta-description from your link.
